Seal Installing Tool
A friend was rebuilding a powering steering box for a Jeep Cherokee. There is a seal on the piston that is difficult to install. The internet showed multiple tricks of wrapping a can around it the piston. All were clumsy. Instead we decided to 3D print an installation tool. See the details here.
1977 MGB
While the 1965 Mustang was not drivable I purchased the MGB. I have always liked small cars. I had a Triumph Spitfire at one time. I had raced Spec Miata and my wife had owned a street one. I was not interested in doing that again. I found a nice driver. I drove it quite a bit for two full summers. Now I am starting a pretty ambitious mod project that will include drivetrain swap, all new electrical, suspension mod, and some changes to the body. Details will be shown here.
Kart Stand
In kart racing everyone uses a stand to transport the kart from pit to grid and to work on the kart in the pits. Twentyfive years ago this was usually a simple folding stand with wheels. This meant the kart had to be lifted on and off before and after each track session. Karts typically weigh about 160 pounds. Over the years most people have transitioned some type of one man stand that allows the kart to be lifted with little or no labor. These are fairly expensive so I dedided to make my own. More information about this project is here.
1967 Mustang
My brother knows a guy that had a 1967 Mustang sitting around that he had for quite a while and had not done anything with it. It was a simple straight six. The interior and paint was not very good but body had minimal rust. Information on the build is here.
1965 Mustang
When I stopped racing cars I used some of the freed up budget to purchase a toy car. It was nice but a little plain. The paint was mostly good with little flaws. It had small pin stripes along the top of the door that I did not care for. The tires were kind of small and the rims pretty data. The worst thing is it was an automatic. It was an old 3 speed C4 at that. Here is some information about the changes that I made while I owned it.
Other Projects
There have been many other projects over the years that are not detailed here. Probably the earliest was fabricating a power window solution in a car using junkyard parts from a different model. Later projects included lifts and lockers in a Jeep. Others building or rebuiding race cars.
